Bad Education

Today’s page is also kindly coloured by
Bibi-Chan with some editing and effects by me. I am really bogged down with
readings and assignments, and I am SO glad that Bibi-Chan helped me out with
it!
I guess people were a little surprised to
see Yourki’s grandfather, Saru-Ji, dressing up like a
pseudo-Gandalf/Saruman. Folks, that is the humour of it that I hope all of
you will get. But I shall not say so much here and let Saru-Ji explain his
dress-code for himself. And let’s hope everything goes on fine for Yoruki
and his staying with his grandfather! Fingers crossed!
I managed to catch the Spanish art house film,
Bad Education last Tuesday, directed by
Pedro
Almodóvar. It’s a rated film, but I have a fondness
for art films
– a relief from the standard mould of the
high budget oh-so-full-of-CGI
Hollywood films.
Time for some pure acting and superb story-telling
magic.
In case you were thinking that I must crazy to watch
a homosexual
based movie, I must tell you here and
now that I have nothing against
gays or lesbians. I don’t
think people should be judged because they
have different
sexual preferences. It is like a tea drinker judging a
coffee
drinker; just because someone has a different taste does not
necessarily mean the person is worst of than you are.
I don’t think I shall give my own review of the storyline, for it is a
movie best watched and decided by the viewer. What I do want to bring
notice to is that fact that quite a bit of the movie is based on the two
protagonists school life. It is the SCHOOL LIFE part that reminds me of
the fact that SKOOKUM! is ultimately based on a school life experience.
Regretfully, my version or interpretation of school life is not erotic
at all compared to the school life portrayed in Bad Education.
I was thinking, that there must be something magical about school life
that it is worth telling. I think I would really want to persuade people
to re-think their school life, that whether they hate it or love it
(like I did); it is something that will have subtle impact on your life.
Enjoy School. While You Can.
